REPORT ON THE 15TH MEETING OF PROFESSIONALLY GUIDED THEATRES FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE OF THE CROATIAN ASSITEJ CENTRE
The “Zvjezdana Ladika“ award for the highest quality drama teaching achievements this year went to the drama teacher and director Sanja Hrnjak for the play “BAJKA ZBRČKALICA/A CONFUSED TALE” performed by the students of the drama program of the Zorin Dom City Theatre in Karlovac.
The performance of ”Vjetropljus/Windsplash” by the Dada drama program of the Theatre Troupe Pinklec from Čakovec, directed by Davor Dokleja, was proposed for this years “International Children’s Festival in Sibenik”.
The meeting was held from the 2nd to the 5th of April 2013 in Bjelovar, as organized by the Croatian ASSITEJ Centre and the City of Bjelovar. A total of 10 plays were performed by drama and theatre programs from Šibenik, Zagreb, Pula, Karlovac, Sisak, Velika Gorica, Čakovec, Varaždin, and Koprivnica. The meeting was watched by the jury, composed of Morana Dolenc, Mario Kovač, and Igor Tretinjak.
As a part of the 16th Meeting of Professionally Guided Theatres for Children and Young People of the Croatian ASSITEJ Centre 2013, a reprise will be held in Varaždin of the most successful performances from Bjelovar. The jury proposed the performance of another two plays from this year’s meeting in addition to those listed above: “Strah/Fear” as performed by the drama program of the Dubrava Children’s Theatre, and the play “Djevojka koja je mrzila kasniti/The Girl Who Hated To Be Late“ by the drama youth program of KKV Sisak under the leadership of the director and dramaturge Nebojša Borojević.
In addition to the performances, a three-day workshop was also held for the children of Bjelovar, “Od igre do lutke/From Play to Puppets” under the professional leadership of Natalie Murat Dean. The production by the workshop was performed at the opening of the Meeting.
